The Roseland Multi-Academy Trust (TRMAT) is committed to quality first teaching that enables every young person to succeed. All CPD initiatives have one goal: to make a positive impact on learning of our young people within TRMAT and beyond.

All the professional development on offer encapsulates TRMAT’s ethos:

  • Supporting all staff in leading their own professional development.
  • Preparation for new roles, potential new roles and career progression.
  • Maintaining the highly skilled, knowledgeable and passionate staff who inspire all of our students.

The information in this post is not an exhaustive list.  We review our offer and update it periodically.  In addition, we are open to newly-emerging projects. We can provide bespoke training and subject specific up-skilling based on the needs of our staff within TRMAT.  Upcoming CPD event dates are contained within the post.

Safeguarding Training, including PREVENT

We follow statutory safeguarding guidelines and procedures and undertake updates on a regular basis. TRMAT runs safeguarding training at The Roseland Academy for schools across the Roseland Network and liaises with each school on a termly basis.

Aspects that are covered:

  • Latest safeguarding procedures for adults working with children in an education setting
  • Abuse and Neglect
  • British Values
  • PREVENT
  • FGM
  • Updates from Serious Case Reviews
  • Child Sexual Exploitation
  • Child Protection Guidelines
  • Reporting, storing information and use of ‘My Concern’
  • Internet safety, social media
  • Local support and partner agencies

TRMAT agrees to follow similar procedures to ensure the information is managed safely and students are supported in their transition from primary to secondary school.

To maintain a high level of safety and welfare for all our young people and staff, we use the services of Reconstruct who can provide training in:

  • Safer Recruitment
  • Train the Trainer

‘Follow in the Footsteps’

 Who is it for?
  • Are you new to your role?
  • Would you like to find out how to be more effective by shadowing a more  experienced colleague?
  • Are you considering applying for a specific role?
  • Would you like to understand, in more detail, the day-to-day responsibilities of a certain role to gain a deeper understanding?
  • Would you like to be a visionary and outward-looking leader and follow in the footsteps of a colleague to gain a deeper understanding of their role?
  • Are you based in a secondary school and would you like a greater understanding of the KS1/KS2 curriculum and learning strategies used in a primary school setting?
  • Are you based in a primary school and would you like a greater understanding of the KS3 curriculum and new GCSE context?
  • Are you a member of a support team and would you like to see how students are supported in a different setting?

‘Follow in the Footsteps’ is a personalised experience to suit you and normally takes place over one or two days.  This opportunity can be provided and facilitated in any of TRMAT schools to generate a fully inclusive opportunity.

‘Follow in the Footsteps’ may be a rolling provision—a series of shadowing opportunities focusing on specific aspects that are relevant at different times of the academic year.

Collaboration and close partnerships:

 

We are focused on maintaining best practice through collaboration and strong partnerships. We are seeking new approaches, wider opportunities and to evaluate our own practice.

We are open to innovation and learning from others. We are committed to providing a variety of opportunities to maintain high levels of work satisfaction and a high quality of educational provision for all of our students.

 What does it look like?
  • Our staff have opportunities to attend a variety of leadership courses,         nationally accredited by NCTL: NPQML, NPQSL, NPQH, ‘Stepping Up’ – women into senior leadership; and Aspiring Heads.
  • Through our partner primary school collaborations, you will have access to Truro & Roseland Learning Community training, resources and moderation.
  • Through Teaching School we provide ITT training and collaborate on providing the best training provision for future teachers. We offer ITT training for trainee teachers and also run a training programme for NQTs and recently qualified teachers: Professional Studies which includes practical advice, information about legislations and policies in the work place, external speakers and focus on teaching and learning practice.

You will establish new networking opportunities that are sustainable within TRMAT, your teams and  benefit  all our students. Leaders within TRMAT will be given an opportunity to lead a session within this course to further embed their training, coaching and leadership skills.

This resource is for:

  • a place to record your professional development, self-evaluation and reflections for the academic year
  • understand key documentation, including the performance management cycle
  • drive your own professional development and teaching practice through this supporting resource

Google Classroom: T&L Virtual Classroom enables all colleagues to exchange ideas, share resources and discuss good practice fluidly throughout the academic year.

T&L Toolkit comprises of two documents:
  • T&L Toolkit—CORE
  • T&L Toolkit: Supporting Resources

The operational systems supporting teaching and learning are clear, coherent and shared with all staff. Through our active engagement the best learning provision is offered to all students. The T&L Toolkit is reviewed each summer, based on feedback, school improvements plans and students’ achievements. All staff can contribute to the T&L Toolkit.

February 2017:

Based on the level of interest from our primary partners, we are  developing TRMAT T&L Toolkit versions for the primary schools.  All the subsequent T&L Toolkits will reflect a common approach to CPD programmes and evaluative systems, focus on supporting teaching and learning, whilst retaining the uniqueness of each school.
